桂范洙—起制定了歌曲的整体的方向和构成，
金南俊参加了RAP部分的制作，将添加了不同的元素到歌曲中9。防弹少年团想通过《Butter》延续《
Dynamite》的魅力与温柔，还希望该曲能如歌名一样，如牛油般融入粉丝们的生活，并把粉丝写进了歌词中。

日本游戏公司
科乐美于1992年制作的游戏《Monster in My Pocket》的背景音乐，而该曲的作曲者则表示为恰巧相似；
荷兰音乐人Luca Debonaire表示《Butter》其中一名作曲家于2019年时将《Butter》中存在的一段旋律卖给了他，因此认为《Butter》存在版权问题，而
