朱朝东，男，博士，研究员。1993年开始从事昆虫学研究，1996年进中国科学院动物研究所攻读博士学位。1996年起，在中国科学院动物研究所学习与工作期间，对中国农林重大害虫及其寄生蜂，进行了长期的分类学、生态学和生物学研究。参与或主持国家自然科学基金、中国科学院、科技部、英国皇家学会、英国自然环境研究基金会等多项项目，发表论文多篇。

朱朝东主要研究蜜蜂科分类和系统进化。

朱朝东现主持项目：1）国家自然科学基金面上项目：长距姬小蜂族（姬小蜂科）脱氧核糖核酸分类与修订；2）农业部行业科技专项：北方果树食心虫监测和防控新技术研究与示范；3）北京市自然科学基金重点项目：小蛾类果树害虫及其寄生性天敌资源评价及利用（合作主持）；4）中国科学院农业办公室项目1项（在研）。
