陆扬，1965年12月生。北京大学中国古代史研究中心研究员。北京大学梵巴利文1984级本科学生，师从季羡林先生。后负维也纳大学，师从Ernst Steinkellner。最后在普林斯顿大学取得历史学博士学位，师从崔瑞德（Denis C. Twitchett）、余英时。毕业后先后执教于普林斯顿大学、哈佛大学和堪萨斯大学。2011年获聘北京大学中古史研究中心研究员。

1984年9月至1987年10月，就读于北京大学东方语言学系本科，专业梵语巴厘省文。

1987年10月至1990年4月，就读于维也纳大学（Universitat Wien）藏学与佛教学研究系。

1991年9月至1996年8月，就读于普林斯顿大学（Princeton University）东亚研究系。

1999年1月获博士学位。

1996年9月至1999年7月，普林斯顿大学东亚研究系讲师。

1999年8月－2006年7月，普林斯顿大学东亚研究系助理教授。

2006年8月至2007年7月，哈佛大学（Harvard University）东亚语言与文明研究系客座教授。

2007年8月至2011年6月，堪萨斯大学（University of Kansas）历史系助教授。

2011年6月起，北京大学历史系暨中国古代史研究中心研究员。

2016年至今，北京大学历史系暨中国古代史研究中心教授。
